Real Estate Finance I

Real Estate Finance is one of eight courses developed by the PA Real Estate Commission to fulfill the 6 credit elective requirement to qualify for a Broker’s license. It also fulfills 15 hours of continuing education requirements.
 
The course is designed to provide students with an overview of the U.S. mortgage market, the major influences in the mortgage market and how the U.S. financial system ties in to mortgages. Students will learn more about the different types of loan programs, loan pricing, servicing, and various features of residential mortgage loan programs. Closing costs will be reviewed, as well as the different types of mortgage insurance programs.
 
Upon completion, students will have a greater understanding of how to advise their clients, write up offers, and provide some inside knowledge of the workings of the U.S. mortgage market, which will be effective in recognizing the differences between loan programs and lenders.

Disability and Homeownership

The Disability and Homeownership course will provide real estate professionals with an overview of the laws associated with servicing persons with disabilities and their families including compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act. Additionally, this course will provide real estate professionals with information and resources that will help them better serve persons with disabilities, such as special financial programs for home purchase and modifications.

In this course, students will learn to:

  • Explore the potential needs of clients with disabilities
  • Understand consumer protection laws relating to disability
  • Identify special financial programs in Pa. for persons with disabilities
  • Explore community resources available for persons with disabilities

The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission has mandated that all salespersons complete 14 hours of mandatory continuing education during their first renewal cycle. For the 2014-2016 renewal cycle, this applies to those licensed on or after December 1, 2013. While these courses are required for those newly licensed, any agent may benefit and receive continuing education credits for these courses.

The General Module focuses on protection of the buyer and seller client as well as ways to develop professional business strategies to maximize professional development.
